Waiting time

Waiting Time and No-Show Policy

Every pickup includes a waiting allowance so a few minutes never becomes a problem. This page sets out the general allowances by pickup type and explains what is confirmed for your booking in a confirmation message from our team.

General waiting allowances

These are the general allowances JB works to. They give travelers room for the ordinary friction of a pickup without holding a chauffeur past the point where the next booking is affected.

  • Local pickup: 5 minutes.
  • Local pickup traveling to an airport: 15 minutes.
  • Domestic arrival: 20 minutes.
  • International arrival: 45 minutes.
  • Private aviation: approximately 15 minutes.
  • Hotel pickup: 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Event pickup: 5 to 10 minutes.

Arrival allowances are longer because customs, immigration, baggage claim, and the walk out of a terminal take time that a curbside pickup does not.

What your confirmation message states

The allowances above are general. The specifics that apply to your reservation are confirmed in the booking confirmation message you receive from our team, so there is no guesswork on the day of travel. Those specifics include:

  • The point at which waiting time begins to be billed for your booking.
  • The increments waiting time is billed in.
  • How a no-show is defined for the service you booked.
  • Any charge that applies if a no-show is recorded.
  • The cancellation window that applies to that service.

JB does not publish a single figure for these, because they differ by service, vehicle, and location. If you would like them confirmed before you book, ask and JB will send them to you in a confirmation message.

Running late

Call or text as soon as you know. In most cases a chauffeur can hold longer, and JB can adjust the rest of the itinerary around the delay so the following pickups still work. What causes an avoidable charge is silence, not lateness.

Please be reachable on the day of travel at the number given when the booking was made, and let JB know if a different traveler will be meeting the vehicle.

Airport and private aviation pickups

Flights are monitored where flight details are provided, so a pickup can be adjusted when a flight lands early or late. Give the airline, the flight number, and the arrival airport at the time of booking.

At commercial terminals, curbside dwell rules are set by the airport, not by JB, and a vehicle may need to recirculate while you finish with baggage. That is normal and is worked around by staying in contact. For private aviation, pickups are timed to the aircraft and coordinated with the FBO, where rules permit.

More detail on airport pickups is on the Airport Transfers page.
